Description of the School Figure   Home

This is a description of the one mandatory figure. 
Downhill is represented by the bottom of the page and left and right are always skier’s left and right.

All 8 team members line up in single line behind the leader

The 1st,3rd,5th and 7th skiers turn right first  (X’s)
The 2nd,4th, 6th and 8th skiers turn left first  (O’s)

The count is 1,2,3,4 and on the 5th turn break into medium turns. 4 skiers are lined up vertically on each side as in the diagram #2.

The X’s,(1st,3rd,5th and 7th skiers) will break to the right and the O’s,(2nd,4th, 6th and 8th skiers) break left.

The skiers reach the apex of that turn as shown in the diagram #2 and cross to the other apex as in diagram #3.

Then the skiers return to cross the center line and turn back into the short radius turns for another count of  5.

The X’s first short turn coming back in will be a left turn and the O’s (even numbered skiers) a right turn.
This turn is counted as #1 again. 
Continue 2,3,4 and break open to mediums on 5.





















This will have the X’s breaking on the skier’s left side and the O’s on the right. As in diagram #3
Then cross to the other apex as in Diagram #2. 
Then return to cross at center for another count of 5.  X’s first short will be to the right and the O’s to the left.

Count the third series of short radius turns again and break again on turn number 5 as in the first series of mediums. Return to cross center for the last series of short turns.  Count the first turn back in as always as #1 and stop on turn number #6.  This will make the X’s stop facing right and the O’s facing left.  Every skier must stop in a straight line behind the leader without slipping forward.
